Police Local Control
OBS is glad that other elected officials are
finally joining our long and hard-fought struggle to return the
St. Louis Police Department back to the citizens. At a recent
hearing from HB 1601 introduced by Rep. Jamilah Nasheed, such
officials lined up to give testimony in support of local
control.
The bill will return the local control to the
Department of Public Safety based upon the City Charter. That's
a concern given there's an incompetent director there now (charles
bryson) appointed by an incompe-tent mayor (slay). It is what it
is. It's the duty of citizens to make sure the checks n balances
are in place for transparency and accountability.

Hope Whitehead's Swearing in

OBS endorsed Hope Whitehead in her bid to fill
the vacated seat in the 57th District in a February Special
Election.
From the OBS endorsement statement...
“Hope’s legal and professional background will allow her to hit the
ground running,” says Kalimu Endesha, Field Organizer for the
Organization for Black Struggle. “She’s acutely aware of the
issues facing our community; we will have an informed ally in
the state legislature”.
